ACE Training is a social enterprise training provider based at the Dusty Forge in Cardiff.

Our job is to help individuals and small to medium sized companies to achieve the health and safety qualifications needed for their work or future employment.

We provide support with mentoring and use reflective practices to support learner needs from qualified expert trainers in their fields of industry.

Our popular training package is the QNUK Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) training & CSCS Card, which enables candidates to gain the certificate and competency card required to work on construction sites.

How to get a CSCS Card
  1. Complete and pass the QNUK Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) qualification. This qualification does not need to be retaken, but is recommended that it is refreshed every 3 years.
  2. Complete and pass the online CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test (CSCS Test) This involves a 50 question multiple choice exam. This certificate is valid for 2 years.
  3. In completing both 1 & 2 in the one day course, your CSCS card will be ordered and will arrive within 10-15 working days.

Course Duration:

You have two choices in how to take the QNUK Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) Training and CSCS Test – options available are:

  • Complete the training, assessment and CSCS test in one day, or
  • Complete the training and assessment in one day and return the following week to sit the CSCS test (this allows candidates time for revision should they wish).
    Cost: £215.00

CSCS Tests only

Cost: £34* per test (inc test and admin fees)
*The CSCS test is £22.00 per person; the additional cost is administration fees.

If you have a trade like bricklaying, or are a supervisor or manager, you may be unclear on how to renew your CSCS card. 

Your are required to hold an acceptable level qualification (copy of certificate needed), which along with a valid CSCS test certificate in order to get these cards.

Q. I would like a job working on construction sites. What do I need to do?

A. To work on a construction site you need to have a valid CSCS card. To obtain a card you will need to have a certificate in a relevant qualification. If you have a qualification you will only need to sit your CSCS test and apply for a CSCS card. To check if your qualification is relevant you can do so here.

Q. What do I need to apply for my CSCS card?

A. A scanned copy of your qualification certificate and CITB test ID number from your CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test, this can be found at the top of your pass certificate. You must have passed the appropriate test within the last 2 years.

Q. How long will it take for my CSCS card to be sent to me?

A. It can take from 7-10 days from the application stage.

Q. My current CSCS card is running out, what do I need to do?

A. If you currently hold a Green Labourers card you will need to check if your Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment certificate is still valid. If it is you will need to sit your CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test commonly referred to as the CSCS test. Once you have completed and passed you can then apply for your CSCS card. If your certificate has expired you will need to undertake the Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment training and assessment and then take the CSCS test in order to renew your CSCS card.

Health & Safety training for staff?

Do you manage a staff team who require health and safety training? We work with a number of small and medium sized companies, to train your staff in a range of health and safety needs. These can include First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, and Asbestos Awareness. Many of these types of courses will only take up one day of training, and can help your staff meet minimum or gain additional standards in their current work.
